Bells

Due to my bells skills, I thought this poem would be appropriate.

HEAR the sledges with the bells --
                     Silver bells !
What a world of merriment their melody foretells !
          How they tinkle, tinkle, tinkle,
In the icy air of night !
          While the stars that oversprinkle
All the heavens, seem to twinkle
                With a crystalline delight ;
             Keeping time, time, time,
In a sort of Runic rhyme,
To the tintinnabulation that so musically wells
From the bells, bells, bells, bells,

                     Bells, bells, bells --
From the jingling and the tinkling of the bells.

A Light to My Path

Baking with my sister.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalms 119:105

If I did not have a lamp during my situation I would of fallen because I would not have seen the path.

The Flying Pug

Walnut trees from last fall.

The Flying Pug

By Katherine E. Gray

There was a pug,
who climbed up a walnut tree
And wanted down because she was hungry.
But she had random wings
And could amazingly fly.
So she flew on down
And next she was on the search for food.

Note: I get hungry after I work out, so the pug got hungry after climbing a tree.

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

The Curious Case of the Frog Blog

Unfortunately I have a tradition with an unnamed family member to exchange frog gifts. My sister and father occasionally encourage this tradition by partaking in the gag gifts. The frogs bring sunshine to my life with their big giant weird eyes. They kind of remind me of my dog Poe and myself.

Jumping Frog
By Katherine E. Gray

Ok, so I am like a frog
Jumping down the road
Then suddenly there was a hole.
I fell in.
And it is taking a while
To get back out.

Perseverance and Patience

I want my trial to be over sooner rather than later so that I can finally find my real Mr. Darcy (I hope he has a mustache).

"...glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulations produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.'' (Hope that's a mustache Mr. Darcy).
Romans 5:3-4

Salt of the Earth

You are the salt of the Earth;

But if the salt loses it's flavor, how shall it be seasoned?

It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Matthew 5:13

My goal when I go to therapy is to season and salt the therapist and everyone else who works there. How I do this is by smiling, saying hi, having a joyful attitude, caring about other people's day, and grasping every opportunity to encourage people. If the opportunity rises, sharing our love of Christ.

What is very important to my mom and I is that we remember that this is our missionary field. We always say a little prayer before we go in that we be a light and the salt for Christ, seasoning the rehab with His blessings.

Kathyosophy

Not philosophy, but kathyosophy. Or as my mother says, kathyisms.

Kathyosophy: the insightful observations of Katherine.

Before my trial a lot of stuff meant nothing to me, now the words like patience and perseverance meaningful. So trials actually make you persevere instead of quit.

An Enjoyble Poem, Plus a Funny Picture

Bear in There

By, Shel Silverstein

There's a Polar Bear
In our Frigidaire-
He likes it 'cause it's cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
And his big hairy paws
In the buttery dish,
He's nibbling the noodles,
He's munching the rice,
He's slurping the soda,
He's licking the ice.
And he let's out a roar
If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
To know he's in there-
That Polarly Bear
In our Fridgityaire.

Mustache March

The motivation behind Mustache March happened in September when David so kindly promised to grow a mustache for me in March. He held his word, and this is the amazing result.

David and I

The next Mustache March participant is Jamie! He surprised me with his awesome stache...

Jamie and I.

The fire was soon lit, and Mustache March went out of control. People such as Pastor Eric and my brother Scotty began growing their mustaches over night.

Even women began growing out their staches!!!!!

Samantha
Cadence

Just when you thought things couldn't get any more ridiculous, a toddler grew one for me!

Mila

To top it all off, I found this picture on my facebook...

Jenson, how adorable!

The final days of Mustache March ended with a bang with Mr. Befort's fantastic mustache.

Mr. Befort and I

I would like to thank all the mustache contributors for making Mustache March a success, mentioned and unmentioned. Without their help there would be no stache.

To end it all, here are two questions I need to ask you. First, do you want to grow a mustache? Second...

Thanks David for the amazing shirt.

Poe and Moxy, the Two Best Pets Ever!

This post is dedicated to my dog Poe and cat Moxy.

Here is a list of words that describe Poe.
Poe is sleepy.
  • Stealthy: when you don't think she's around, Poe is right under your feet.
  • Drone: when food is around Poe will silently and drone like hover around you.
  • Vindictive: when you make her mad, look out. Don't let that innocent Pug face fool you. (Ask my sister for the real details, use your imagination, not appropriate for this blog).
  • Anti-Garden dog: smooshes the flowers, chases the cat, won't let the other dogs near me.
  • Sled dog: She is so strong she can pull me on my wheel chair to different places, Poe is all muscle.
  • Guard Dog: She barks at everything. One time we got a new trash can and she would not stop barking at it. Another time she was on Nancy's bed when she saw her pug calendar and started ferociously barking at it.
  • Lap Dog: She is my loyal lap dog and my best friend.
Moxy in his basket.

  Moxy can be described as...
  • Adorable: he is a big fluff ball.
  • Chunky: every time we go outside he is by his food.
  • Tough: he is an outside farm cat, and he shows it with his battle scars.
  • Friendly: Always comes running to me when he hears my wheel chair.
  • Fluffy: He has the softest fur around.

The Case of the Recycling Thief

The dedication my father and I have shown towards recycling has been outstanding. My father has been so faithfully helping me recycle by putting all his plastic water bottles into my recycling bag. Needless to say, my bag has been growing. However, recently my bottles have been magically disappearing!

After an investigation, my mom finally fessed up to the crime she has been committing...

My mom's idea of "Kat's Cans"

My mom's idea of recycling is to reuse the plastic bottles as pots for her future garden. I guess my mom does like recycling after all.

Nuke the Whales???

When I woke up, I was surprised to find that I owned a "Nuke the Whales" t-shirt! As you may know I am an avid whale aficionado. I love to say "save the Whales!" My youth Pastor Eric dared to give me this lovely t-shirt. I have only worn it once, unknowingly, to Pastor Eric's going away party. This is an example of what happens when you lose control of your shirtwaist choices.

Its a cute shirt without all the nonsense on it!

I like to recycle to conserve the Planet and to save the Whales, but the only way to save the World is through Christ.

The Lord is close to the broken hearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:18

Recycling Musings

No, the brain injury did not stop my passion for recycling!

For a while I wasn't allowed to recycle. But then I made a deal with my Mom that if I didn't complain about speech therapy (obviously I don't need it, I talk fine) she would allow me to recycle. But, she won't allow old cans and bottles in her car. So my Dad took me in his work truck-unfortunately his truck is a wee high for my entry. Not to be stopped my always resourceful Dad brought the mini trampoline and bounced me right in! I made $8.00 recycling, and will be using this money to buy my speech therapist dinner.

Habakkuk 3:19 God, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer's; He makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.

First Musing

My current musing is that I woke up and missed three years of my life. I have different furniture (my sister took all the furniture!), my friends are getting married, my cousins have babies, and my sister is back home. I couldn't figure out why this guy named Obama was always on tv, I kept saying "Where's Bush?!" But there are still some consistency in my life, like my love for pugs, Mini Coopers, my family still loves me, and I still love God. While I miss the old things such as my job, old friends, and Winston (my truck), new things have taken its place like my pug Poe.
